Music Director

Kathleen Panek - Music DirectorKathleen M. Panek has served St. John Lutheran Church as Director of Music since 1976 when she and her family joined the congregation.  She has a Bachelor of Music degree from the Lawrence University Conservatory of Music in Appleton, Wisconsin.  She serves the congregation as organist, choir director, and coordinator of music for the Sunday School and the Vacation Bible School.  She also teaches Sunday School and has led a number of adult classes on church music.  Prior to coming to St. John she was assistant organist and director of the children’s choir at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Providence, RI from 1970 to 1976.  Kathy is a talented Lutheran musician who brings dedication, enthusiasm and a strong background in Lutheran music and worship to her work.

Kathy also maintains a private piano studio for students ranging in age from 5 years to adult. She is currently past President of the Main Line Music Teachers Association, and a member of The Pennsylvania Music Teachers Association, The Music Teachers National Association, and the National Guild of Piano Teachers.

Her other hobbies include geneology, baking, gardening, French and reading. Kathy and her husband Larry have four children, Tristan, Nathan, Heidi, and Evan, and four grandchildren, Sarah, Ethan, Laurel, and Owen.
